'description' has been modified:
Before: SwissLipids is an expert curated resource that provides a framework for the integration of lipid and lipidomic data with biological knowledge and models. Information about known lipids|including knowledge of lipid structures|metabolism|interactions|and subcellular and tissular localization is curated from peer-reviewed literature. SwissLipids uses well-supported namespaces and ontologies such as UniProt|ChEBI|Rhea and Gene Ontology (GO) terms|and provides full provenance|including evidence codes describing the type of evidence supporting curated assertions and links to primary literature. The set of known|expert curated lipids provided by SwissLipids is complemented by a library of theoretical lipid structures. These are constructed by the combination of known 'building blocks' - such as lipid classes and the fatty acids and alcohols they contain - from the curated set. The resulting library of lipids encompasses thousands of the possible (but as yet unidentified) lipid structures that may exist in nature (as well as many structures that may not occur). All lipids are annotated with standard nomenclature|cheminformatics descriptors|such as SMILES|InChI and InChI key|formula and mass|and links to ChEBI (including lipid class and components). All known and theoretical lipids in SwissLipids are organized into a single common lipid hierarchy that follows the notation for mass spectrometry-based lipidomic data developed by Liebisch|Wakelam and coworkers|and is consistent with the classification developed by LIPID MAPS. The lipid hierarchy is used as a framework to annotate and integrate analytical data from publications and the lipidomic platform of LipidX with curated knowledge on lipid structures|such as their interactions with enzymes. SwissLipids is updated daily.
